Le Parisien

Hey Stranger...

Here are some pics.

Decent bread. I have a love/hate relationship with bread. I love it because sometimes it can just taste so damn good. I can't help but to eat it because it just stares at me while I patiently wait for my appetizer/entree. The problem is that I tend to eat a little too much of it which causes me to be slightly full. Slightly full = big problem when my entree comes out. You all can guess what this big problem is. No need for me to elaborate.

Anyway...

Snails...I have yet to acquire this taste.

The green stuff went well with my bread though!

This was some kind of vegetable. Can't remember what it was...but I do remember not liking it!

This is what I came to this restaurant for..their chicken. Best part of it? The skin!! The chicken itself was okay. I didn't think it had that much taste to it. I also wish they gave me more mash potatoes.

Some kind of fish. I believe my friend liked it.

Apple tart? The ice cream went well with the apple tart.

So overall, it was a nice cozy little restaurant. I enjoyed the wine and the company ;)

Butter

First time taking advantage of restaurant week. Friends choose butter and I tagged along ;)

I had studied the menu the night(s) before so I went in knowing what I was going to order.

Complimentary bread, corn bread and butter. IMO, there was nothing special about either. The sliced bread wasn't really warm and the corn bread didn't seem fresh either. I guess I was just expecting better. The butter itself was good. In the end though, we got another bread basket so I guess you can say it was good enough ;)

Mixed Homemade Charcuterie Plate - Smoked Duck Breast, Spicy Bacon and Chicken Liver on Toast with Pickled Vegetables
Friend got this. I wasn't a fan of the chicken liver..the spicy bacon wasn't bad though. I don't remember it being spicy.

Mussels in White Wine with Smoked Trout and Garlic Confit

Friend got this. I thought this appetizer was the best one out of the three we ordered. Both the mussels and trout was good.

Soup of the Day - Butternut Squash with a side of popcorn
I got this appetizer. This is suppose to be Alexandra Guarnaschelli's signature soup. Now, this is my first time having butternut squash soup so my opinion probably doesn't mean much... but I didn't really like this. I felt it was really too rich.

Spiced Onion Rings
I couldn't help myself but to order some sides...spiced onion rings. I wasn't a fan. I couldn't really taste the onion and it was a bit too crunchy imo.

Mashed Yukon Potatoes
I figured this would be different but I was kinda disappointed again. The mashed potatoes wasn't as warm as it should have been. Just a typical mash potatoes dish I guess.

Grilled Salmon with Green Lentils, Braised Pearl Onions, and Lemon Confit
Friend ordered this. I was debating between this dish and the one I got. In the end, the other dish won but this fish was pretty good. I think I'm starting to become a fan of grilled fish. I should order more fish dishes since it's good for me.

Braised Creekstone Farms Short Ribs with Hominy, Chopped Olives, Fresh Parsley
Friend got this. This was good as well. The beef was moist and it was actually a lot of meat. I don't think I would have been able to finish this if I ordered it.

Seared Pork Loin with Skilled Potatoes, Roasted Garlic and Red Mustard
This was my dish and I enjoyed it. The meat was tender and flavorful. The lettuce on the bottom was nice. My only problem was the potatoes. I thought it was going to come with roasted or baked potatoes. The potatoes was actually fried. I mean, it tasted good but I think baked or roasted potatoes would have been so much better.

With the help of friends, I actually cleaned up this dish.

Empire and Braeburn Apple Crisp with Bourbon Pecan Ice Crea
Friend got this. This was good. I was afraid to get this myself because I don't usually like alcohol in my food or desserts. To my pleasant surprise, I didn't taste the bourbon.

Mango Sorbet with Coconut Shortbread and Kumquat Marmalade
Friend ordered this. I liked this too. The sorbet was good. Not too sweet. The shortbread was yummy too.

Dark Chocolate Torte with Whipped Sour Cream
This was my dessert. This was alright. Nothing special imo. I actually liked the other two desserts better.

So overall, I enjoyed myself and the food. It's a pretty and cozy restaurant.
