The Crazy Flamingo

Wow, it's been so long since I posted. I really don't have a good excuse...I've just been lazy.

Let's star this off with this local bar in Florida.

Kathy's Seafood Marinara - $12.99
Fish Sandwich - $10.99
Buffalo Wings - Bald Eagle Sauce - $9.99
Overall, good restaurant/bar to have near your house. The fish sandwich was fresh and delicious. The wings were spicy (as promised - Bald Eagle is their spiciest sauce) and not too big.

Looking back at these pics is making me crave some buffalo wings and beer...

Tropix Bar & Lounge

It is amazing how people act differently when they think that they are being watched, especially by the police. A few years ago they installed two additional stop signs up my block. This turned the intersection to a four way stop. As the  years go by, I notice that a good amount of people ignore it and just sail their dumbass right through it without stopping. If it is not people running it, it's people barely stopping for it.

So I noticed that they recently parked a small/fake police car (the ones with only 3 wheels) on one of the corners of the intersection. I say fake because I have yet to see a police man or woman inside of it! It is always unoccupied. But boy oh boy does it make a difference. People are now slowing down and are not running the sign anymore! The dummy police car actually works!

Anyway, back to my original point. As I am crossing the street this morning, I see a lady in a car coming to a COMPLETE stop at the intersection (who does that these days???? :)) So she stops and catches my attention at this point. I see that when she stops she turns her head completely to the left, pause and THEN turns her head completely to the right like some school teacher teaching their little kids how to cross the street. You know what was so amazing about that?? It was a one way street!! What car was she looking for on the opposite direction?!? It was soo obvious that she doing a little show for the "cop". But here comes the kicker. After she looks both ways, she decides to make a right and almost run into my ass!! She never even signaled!!

A-maz-ing!

Well, enough talk. Here are some pictures to express my latest craving...Buffalo wings!!

These onion rings reminded me of the ones they used to give out in school for lunch. Some people might think that's gross but I'm actually one of the few that misses school lunch...oh, little round pizza, where are you!!

I think this was mine. I got the spicy wings. It was good. I love saucy wings and this place definitely had a good amount of sauce on it. It was pretty spicy too.

My friend's wings. I believe these were the jack daniels flavored wings? He swears by this. I personally preferred my spicy wings ;)

We went on a monday night where they have a 25 cents per wing special! My only complaint about this place is that it's super loud and you basically have to scream if you want to talk to your friend.

Having said that, I am ready to go back.

Bon Chon

It's 9pm on a Wednesday night and I am craving cheese fries, Korean Chicken wings and Hot Clay Oven. I think I've been eating too little lately as I've been hungry these past two nights around this time (stop the laughter please). I think I will try to eat some fruits between my meals. Let's see how that goes.

Bon Chon! I've been wanting to try this place for quite some time now. I've had the other "famous" Korean Wings places but this has never been a convenient place for me to go to. Well, I finally went one day!

Is that salt on the onion rings? It looks like it right? It isn't. I believe it's parmesan. These were good! The spicy (yellow) mayo sauce that came with it was awesome. I would eat some of that right now...

6 soy sauce chicken tenders. This was my friend's dish. He LOVES it. I personally wouldn't order it. It's too much meat for me. If it came in a smaller size, I would like it.

8 spicy wings! These were not bad. They definitely satisfied the craving. I will not say that it's much better than the other places I've been to. The skin in "Mad for Chicken" is still the best in my opinion.

I still think the "old" kycoChon was the best. I need to go back there and see if they got rid of their big ass wings.

Atomic Wings

Second branch that I have tried. Previously, I've only ordered takeout from the branch near 40th street. It's had always been alright. This new place recently opened up by Baruch.

Got their 1/2 1/2 combo. 3 wings and 3 boneless wings, fries and a soda. I got it with Hot sauce and got cheese on the side.

Wings were pretty good. I think I'm gonna try the next level of hot sauce the next time I go. My friend got their Jerk BBQ sauce. He said it was NASTY ;P And I kinda agree. Well, it isn't the nastiest sauce in the world but I wouldn't order it.

It came with a lot of fries.

So overall, not a bad wings place. I would go back. The wings are small (which I love) and it also had some crisp to it, which I like as well.

KyoChon Chicken

Pics from my visit in December.

Pretty nice outside. Inside was pretty nice too.

Yeah, I'm picking up a bad habit of drinking beer with my wings. I enjoyed the beer though.

I think these are like pickled white carrots? Liked them too.

I want some fries right now... kinda reminds me of KFC potato wedges.

Friend's dish.

I remember it not being that bad. I don't believe the wings were that big so it tasted alright. I need to give the Flushing one another try again. Hopefully, they regained their senses and bought back the small wings.

Curry Wings

I loveee chicken wings...so it's nice that my family is creative and makes unique flavored wings. My BIL taught me his honey chicken marinade wings and I can actually make a decent batch of it.The next recipe I want to learn is my sister's curry wings.

These are pretty good. It has that lemon grass/curry flavor to it with a hint of spice. The next time she makes this, I'll be sure to have a paper and pen ready!

Mad for Chicken

I haven't been super excited about Korean Chicken wings since Kyochon changed their wings from small crispy delicious wings to big fatty wings. However, I was craving it the other day so I decided to go to my second best option...Mad for Chicken. This was my second visit. The first visit wasn't too bad. The chicken isn't as good as the good old Kyochon but it was good enough.

The pictures from my first visit came out really bad so I had to re-take them.

I like the outside. It's cute.

During my first visit, we got free popcorn to start with. I can't remember what it tasted like. It wasn't your regular butter popcorn...I think it was a bit sweet? I don't remember.

Lychee Milk Shake - $3.50
Friend ordered this. As you can see, it's not really a milk shake even though that's the name of it. It's more like a slush. I forgot whether it was good or not. I think it was.

Fried Combo - French Fries and Calamari - $15.95

This was pretty good. The calamari was crispy and it wasn't too chewy. The fries were yummy too.

The best part were the sauces though. The cocktail sauce had a bit of spice in it (I think). The best sauce was the spicy mayo though. I think that was really the only one I used. The other sauce we got was the mango sauce ($1.25). I didn't like that one too much. I guess I'm not a big fan of sweet sauces.

This came out with our wings. I didn't eat much of it. I think I ate a couple of pickles and a good amount of the corn. Both were good. I'm not a big salad person so I didn't bother filling my tummy up with the other stuff.

And now on to the main course...

24 Wings - Half Soy Garlic Sauce and half Hot and Spicy Sauce  - $21.95

The wings were pretty good. Still not as good as the old Kyochon but good. The spicy ones were really spicy. My friend couldn't take it =P I think I forgot to eat the soy garlic ones. I'm sure they were decent too.

I'm not sure if I'm going to explain this right but there's something different about these wings. When you eat them, it kinda feels "light". It's like the skin is slightly detached from the meat, which allows for it to be crispy and "light" tasting. Yeah, I know I'm not explaining it properly so I'll stop here ;)

In the end, this will be my Korean wings place until I find a better one. This place has a bunch of other stuff so you don't like wings, you can always get something else.

Oh, and I had a bunch of spicy ones left over so I ate it a couple of days later. For some reason, it was no longer spicy so I added hot sauce on it....man, it was really good....I think I need to go again and bring leftovers home..
