Hyderabadi Biryani & Chat

Decent Indian takeout near me. I've tried a few of their chicken dishes including their chicken vindaloo and I think their Pepper Chicken is the best.

Naan
The sucky thing about this place is that it is inconsistent. Sometimes, the pepper chicken is awesome, sometimes it is okay and sometimes it just plain sucks. I will say that it is usually good than bad.

This dish is spicy and has a good medium "thick" sauce. I hate watery curry as it just spills all over your plate and naan.

Surati Farsan Mart

Do you know what is great about flying from the east coast to the west and getting there in the early afternoon? You get to eat 4 meals! (Just kidding...or am I?)

So around 6pm-ish, I was already tired and thinking to myself that I'll probably go to bed early and skip dinner. Well, around 730ish, I decided since I was on vacation, I shouldn't waste any opportunities to try out new restaurants! So off I went to pick up some Indian vegetarian food. My friend had recommended this place and it was close to my hotel so I figured, why not.

We decided to get it to go since they were going to close at 830.

Garlic Chili Dosa
This was eh. I didn't like the flavor and found it to be a lit boring. Maybe dosas are just not my thing.

Delhi Chaat
I was kinda disappointed with this. I guess I was expecting something more as this was what my friend recommended. I guess I am also just not a chaat person? I found the sauces odd. Are they suppose to use the typical red and green chutneys? If so, their chutneys were weird. The red wasn't sweet enough and the green was a bit too creamy.

Spicy Vegetable Soup
The dosa came with a spicy vegetable soup. H liked it but I didn't like the consistency. It was too liquidly and I found it lacking substance.

Chole Samosa

This was probably the best thing. H said both the somasa and the chickpeas was great. I thought it was good but not great. I thought the somosa was lacking just a little of flavor and the chole could have had just a little bit more flavor. I think I'm just picky because H really liked it.

Overall, I can see why people would like this place. The food tasted fresh and H enjoyed it.

Hot Clay Oven

I am so in the mood for this right now (even though I just ate dinner). The first time I went, I thought it was decent. But for some reason, I've been craving it since!

I work in Chelsea but that doesn't stop me from having lunch with my friend here. (btw, thanks dude!)

Malai Chicken rice bowl. I think my friend got lettuce, cheese and all their sauces.

Tandoori Chicken naan wrap..I get lettuce, cheese and just the Spicy Red Chutney sauce. Man, this is pretty good. Maybe it's because I just love naan? The chicken is tasty, the naan is just right and the sauce is not bad.

I have a feeling that I will be having this sometime this week...

Darbar Fine Indian Cuisine

Came here with a friend a few months ago. I've been craving Indian food lately so I figure I torture myself a bit more by posting some pics up.

Place was quiet that day. We went for lunch on a saturday. They had a buffet going on but we opted to order things off the menu instead.

Complimentary *** I always forget what this thing is called. I like that restaurants give this out but I always end up suffering because I always stuff my face with it and end up losing stomach space for the real food. Eh, what can you do.

The sauce for the thing that I do not know the name of.

Vegetable Samosas

I ate at this place awhile ago and so I can't remember if this was good or not. I think it was alright. I believe remembering that I've had better.

Aloo Goobi

Friend's dish. Don't be fooled by the picture. IMO, the pic looks awesome but I don't believe it was good. My friend was pretty disappointed with it. I ate a bit of it and didn't care for it.

Rice that came with one of our dishes. I don't usually eat white rice at Indian restaurants. I love my naan.

Garlic Naan

I was disappointed with this naan =/. I remembering it being a tad bland. There was enough "garlic" flavor in it. The bread itself was too crispy too.

Chicken Vindaloo

My to go dish.. I was disappointed with this too. I can't remember the exact details of my disappointment but I believe it just wasn't flavorful enough. There wasn't enough spice too.

Overall, I don't think I would go back to this place unless someone really wanted to go. I've definitely had better Indian food in other places.

Now, hopefully I get my Indian fix soon!

Banjara

Was craving some Indian and wanted to try something new so I came here.

Went for lunch on a Saturday and the place was pretty empty. They ended up getting more customers as we were leaving though.

This came after we ordered (complimentary). I think I liked the tomatoes the best. Maybe the green sauce also. The red sauce wasn't that good. A bit watery and bland from what I remember. The papadum was good. It was hard to resistant when it's right in front of our face and there is nothing else to eat.

Vegetable Samosas

I remember the outside being crisp. The inside was a bit different tasting too...in a good way. I liked it. My only complaint is that they didn't have good red/green sauce to go with this. It would have been perfect with that.

Aloor Chop

I liked this too. Again, I wish there was good chutney sauces to go with this.

Chicken Dumpakht

After reading so many reviews, it seemed crazy not to get this dish here. I've never heard of anything like this so I was intrigued. It's an interesting looking dish too. I like the bread that was on the outside. The chicken and sauce inside was decent. It had good flavor. It also went well with the bread.

I wouldn't say this was my favorite dish and not because it wasn't good. I just like spicier dishes. I would at least get this once though. Just to give it a try.

Mushroom Hari Moti (at least I think that's what this was)

Friend's dish. I think they liked it. I tried it and it wasn't bad. I really can't judge it though since I don't know what this dish is suppose to taste like.

Chicken Vindaloo

My favorite dish. I almost always get this when I go to an indian restaurant. Actually, if an Indian restaurant doesn't have this, I kinda lose interest.

The flavor was pretty good. My only complaint was that it wasn't spicy at all. It's funny because when we ordered it, the waiter was like, "That dish is very very spicy." I'm thinking the chef must have forgot to put in the peppers or something.

Rice that came with our food. I think my friends said it was good.

Garlic Naan
It wasn't the best garlic naan that I've ever had but it wasn't the worst either. I like my naan with a little bit of butter on it. This one was a bit dry. It served it's purpose though!

And finally, the ice cream. This was complimentary.  Not a bad way to end the meal. I forgot what the flavor was but I think I ate it all ;)

Anyway, in summary, this is a good Indian restaurant. I would definitely go back here.
