Satay

I've tried this place once or twice and was not that impressed. I need to go back a few more times to give my final opinion though.

Here are the pics.

Taste Good Malaysian Cuisine

I think I posted about this place once before...but I will post again because I went back yesterday after several years.

I enjoyed this Malaysian Iced Tea. It's on the sweet side but it was still good.

Roti Canai

The roti is slightly different from your usual roti...it is thicker. I enjoyed it. The curry looked oily at first but once you mix it a little, the color becomes your typical yellow.

Beef Rendang
The beef doesn't look good right? The first thing I thought of when I saw this was..."That beef just doesn't look tender.." Well, it turned out to be in the middle. I think I've had better.

Good TasteTofu or Taste Good Tofu
If you like pan fried tofu, this was good. The tofu itself tasted good but he meat on top was eh. Nothing special.

Fragrant Spicy Fish Fillet
The name of the dish was fragrant...I guess I should have taken that as a hint that it was going to be on the sweet side...or should I have?

Well, it was on the sweet side. That's not necessarily bad if you were expected that. For me, I thought that it might be sweet but since it said spicy, I was hoping that it would be on the spicy/salty side. Ah well...overall, it was not a bad dish. I enjoyed the pieces that didn't really have much sauce on it. The ones that did was just too sweet for me.

Overall, I liked this place. Besides the roti and Iced tea, everything else was a new dish for me. I can't wait to go back and try their other dishes.

Nyonya Malaysian Cuisine

Went back to my favorite malaysian restaurant a few months ago. Here are some of my usual dishes.

Crispy fried squid. Yummy...my only complaint is that it is a tad on the salty side.

I believe this is Beef Rendang. I remember the beef being tender and the "curry" was good too.

Chiu chow fried noodles? It's spelled something like that. It is #1 in the noodles section. Not a bad noodle dish imo.

Kang kung belacan. I love this. It's my favorite vegetable and the paste that it is cooked in is good too. I love how it has a little kick too.

This post was inspired by my visit to this restaurant last night ;)

Nyonya Malaysian Cuisine

One of my favorite Malaysian restaurants...I'm glad one of these opened up by my house. The service in the Chinatown branch is just too rude to deal with.

I've been wanting Malaysian food for quite some time now...I was finally able to satisfy that craving this week.

My typical appetizer.

Home Made Roti Canai (Indian Pancake) - $2.95

I liked the curry chicken dipping sauce this time. It had the right amount of thickness. The only thing that I wish it had was a bit more spice. The actual pancake was not bad either.

Satay Chicken - $6.25

Dipping sauce was alright.

Typical satay chicken. I liked it.

Hot sauce on the side. This isn't your typical hot sauce. I'm not really sure what it is exactly but it's different and so I like it.

Java Mee - $5.95

Egg noodles served in sweet & spicy dried squid gravy w. shrimp, shrimp pancake and potatoes. This wasn't bad either. Friend ordered this. Not a bad dish to share. I don't think I would order this on my own though.

Sarang Burong - $11.95

Shaped fried taro stuffed w. shrimp, chicken, corn, snow peas & black mushroom topped w. cashew nuts. I like this dish. Well, I only eat the taro so I guess I like the taro part. The texture is good and it's just rare to have taro dishes I think.

Chendol - $3.00

Green pea flour stripes and sweet red beans topped with shaved ice and coconut milk. Yummy! I wasn't super stuffed so this was a perfect ending to my meal! The coconut milk with shaved ice just hits the spot. It's not a heavy dessert, which is why I like it so much. I'm ready to go back just to eat some more of this.

So ya, it was a good meal ;)
